Hi, I’m Dee the founding writer, editor, photographer and creator of “The Crafty Aussie”.
I’m born and bred in Australia, Melbourne to be exact. Mother of 2 adult boys (that still live at home) and 2 dogs. I grew up in a crafty family where we made everything we could. We didn’t have the luxury or the money to buy fancy things, so we made them. By the time I went to high school, I could knit, sew, crochet, cook clean and even grow a decent vegetable patch.
I will have a go at nearly any craft or DIY project but these days I do have my favourites. My Cricut Maker gets well used in all its glory. I even dabble in creating SVG’s using Adobe Illustrator. I make nearly all my own skincare, bath and body products, using mostly natural ingredients and pure essential oils. My latest acquisition has been a 3D printer. With this, I can make moulds for bath bombs, stands for Cricut tools and many household bits and pieces.
My main purpose for creating this site was to share resources. I was seeing many lovely items made by others in far off places but when it came to making them myself I had trouble sourcing some of the supplies locally.
As the blogs grow I will put together a resource library containing many useful Australia suppliers, products & brands.
As I am new to websites I will be learning as I go, so don’t expect a Spielberg produced video or a JK Rollings perfectly written post, because that isn’t me. I will do by best at who I am.
So if you would like to come along on this journey with me, I will be glad to have you. And please leave me a comment to let me know what you think.
Dee x
